Day 1: FLY USA – THAILAND
Overnight flights to Asia.
Day 2: BANGKOK
On arrival in Thailand, transfer to your first class hotel for check in. Due to various arrival times of passengers, the balance of the day is free from activities and meals are on your own.
Day 3: BANGKOK
Your morning tour of Bangkok will include the Grand Palace complex, home to the three famous Buddhas – the Alabaster, the Jade and the 5 ton Gold Buddha! In the evening enjoy a welcome Thai Dinner and Dance performance. (B, D)
Day 4: FLOATING MARKET
Depart on an excursion to one of the last remaining authentic “floating markets”. On arrival to Damnoen, embark on a 15-minute speedboat ride through the canals (“klongs”) utilizing the renown Thai “Long Boats”. The speed boat ride will end at the heart of the village where you will transfer into sampan boats which will thrust you directly into the small channels filled with farmers and merchants selling everything from fresh bananas to snake wine! Afterwards, enjoy a delightful open-air lunch riverside at a popular local restaurant. Return to Bangkok in the late afternoon and spend the evening exploring Bangkok’s famous restaurants, night-life and bazaars! (B, L)
Day 5: Kwai CRUISE EMBARKATION
Early morning departure from Bangkok by coach toward Kanchanaburi to begin your magnificent “safari” cruise adventure! Stops will be made at the “Phra Pathom Chedi” the largest pagoda in all of Southeast Asia, the Khao Noi Cave Temple Complex and the Hell Fire Pass Museum. Board your floating hotel in the early afternoon and as you set start your Kwai cruise, enjoy a welcome drink and crew introduction prior to your first candlelight dinner. (B, L, D)
Day 6: Kwai CRUISE
A full day of fun is ahead! First, visit a local boarding school for underprivileged children (A great place for you to donate school material such as crayons, children’s books and educational toys). Then continue on to the Hin Dad Hot Springs said to cure any number of ailments, from arthritis to poor skin complexion! From there, a short drive will take you to the fabulous Pha Tad Waterfalls (in low season a visit to an an authentic Mon village will replace Pha Tad), a rolling cascade of falls and clear pools. A swim in the waterfall and the Hot Springs is a must – so don’t forget your swimming trunks! Return to the ship for lunch as you sail down the Kwai River toward the Jungle Raft hotel. On arrival, transfer to old style bamboo rafts and float downstream in silence marveling at the high cliffs and the jungle sounds! End the day at the unique jungle like Res Hotel located riverside. Here you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the freshwater pool, take an optional Thai massage, or simply relax on one of the beautiful terraces overlooking the river. (B, L, D)
Day 7: Kwai CRUISE
Begin with a visit to the Sai Yok Elephant Village. Here you will marvel at the intelligence of these gentle giants as you feed them and watch them perform for you. For those “brave” enough, try an optional half hour elephant ride through the jungle. Return to your ship for an early lunch. Then take a short train ride to “Prasat Muang Singh” historical park, the location of the 800 year old Khmer Temples reminiscent of Cambodia’s Angkor Wat. After the tour you can return to the ship for some R&R or you can sign up for the most exciting optional shore excursion of all – a visit to the Indochina Tiger Conservation Project. Operated in an open, cavernous environment by local Buddhist monks, the Project is home to a variety of exotic animals including the rare Bengal tigers, some of which you can pet! Return to the ship in time for our Captain’s Farewell Dinner! (B, L, D)
Day 8: CHIANG MAI DISEMBARKATION
Depart for your final tour to visit the world famous Bridge over the River Kwai and the Thailand-Burma Railroad Center. Return to your ship for a light lunch and bid your lovely crew goodbye as you disembark and head back to Bangkok airport to catch your evening flight to Chiang Mai. On arrival transfer to your first class hotel for a well deserved rest. (B, L)
Day 9: CHIANG MAI
Your morning city tour will include the Wat Phra Singh Temple and the Wat Chiang Man, the oldest temple built by King Mangrai. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the evening enjoy a unique Kantoke Dinner featuring cuisine and ancient dances from northern Thailand. (B, L, SD)
Day 10: CHIANG RAI
Depart to Chiang Saen, former capital of the first Thai Kingdom, situated on the border of Thailand and Laos. Lunch at a local restaurant. Continue with visits to the Wat Ohra Dhat Jom Kitti prior to boarding long tail speedboats for a ride upriver toward the “infamous” Golden Triangle – where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) meet. Continue on to Chiang Rai and enjoy a dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 11: Bangkok - HOME
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and embark on a tour of Chiang Rai, including the Hill Tribe Museum. From here continue on to the airport for your local flight back to Bangkok (15:50) in time to connect to your evening international flights home. (B)
